Gem Sanctum is very proud to be a New Zealand company offering high quality New Zealand made goods to the world. From proof of concept, design, manufacture, gemstone/diamond setting by hand, all the way through to final polish and quality checking, Gem Sanctum rings and jewelry are made in New Zealand, and shipped from New Zealand.

Transparency Matters

New Zealand makes world class goods, all the way from superyachts, to wine, Hobbits, Milk products, and Merino wool. Our fine jewelry is no different.

It must be something in our pristine waters and our fresh air that produces innovating kiwis (that's us, the people) who in turn produce exceptional goods we are proud to stand by.

Beware of companies who try to make bold claims about their manufacturing practices with tricksy wording or omission. If it doesn't say MADE IN, it probably isn't!

A common misconception is when a company tells you something is designed in a specific country. Don't fall for it! A design, or a prototype could very well be made in the claimed country of origin, but far too many companies outsource the actual manufacturing of their products to developing nations where working conditions are poor, which in turn leads to human rights abuses, and of course, poor quality goods.

Manufacturing Integrity

Gem Sanctum jewelry is made from gold that is mostly recycled which in the world of fine jewels is called refining. The refining and alloying processes are undertaken in New Zealand, in our biggest city, Auckland where our workshop is. This applies to all our precious metals like platinum and silver.

Our gemstones are carefully screened and sourced from miners, gem cutters and dealers right across the planet (and some materials are from off-planet sources!) which we clearly state in our gemstone reports. These stones are usually the only part of the jewelry that is not native to New Zealand or 'made' here.

The gemstones and diamonds are then set into our meticulously crafted settings, which we make right here in our Auckland based workshop, by an expert hobbit, er, I mean, gem setter.

"Crappy Jewelry Shall. Not. Pass!"
"Crappy Jewelry Shall. Not. Pass!"

The final finishing and quality processes are undertaken in Auckland as well, before the completed item is packed up snug, insured by a strong spell from Gandalf, then sent off to the farthest reaches of the planet to their new homes.
